After purchasing a motorcycle, you may receive a temporary license from the showroom, valid for up to 3 months. Once it expires, you must have your motorcycle registered with BRTA (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority) to continue driving legally.

  • Duly signed application form (by both dealer & owner)
  • VAT slip and tax receipt from the showroom
  • Sonali Bank treasury receipt for VAT (paid by the importer)
  • Sales invoice, packing list, and gate pass
  • Customs duty receipt
  • Photocopy of National ID card (attested)
  • Driving license or learner license (if available)
  • Consent letter or affidavit (if more than one owner)
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from financial institution (if purchased through a loan)
  • Inspection report from BRTA vehicle inspector
  • Application fee payment receipt

  • Go to the BRTA portal and click Register
  • Enter your NID number, date of birth, and mobile number
  • Verify with OTP and set your password
  • Log in to your BRTA account
  • Go to Various Service Fees
  • Select Motor Vehicle Registration Fee
  • Choose vehicle type (small, medium, large) based on CC
  • Enter engine number, chassis number, year of manufacture
  • Select road tax period (2 or 10 years)
  • Fill in personal details and click Next
  • Confirm and pay using bKash, Rocket, or Debit/Credit card
  • Download and print payment receipt
  • Log in again and click on Apply for Motor Vehicle Registration
  • Fill out the registration form carefully
  • Refer to your documents to avoid errors
  • Print your application form
  • Attach the required documents and payment receipt
  • Submit all to the BRTA inspector
  • Upon successful inspection, your file will be signed and approved
  • BRTA office will verify again and provide a collection slip
  • Collect your registration certificate on the mentioned date
  • You will receive an SMS to submit photo and fingerprint
  • Visit the assigned BRTA center for biometric verification
  • After a few days, collect your smart card and digital number plate
  • Visit the official BRTA Service Portal at bsp.brta.gov.bd.
  • Register with your NID number, date of birth, and mobile number (if you are a new user).
  • You can log in using your credentials if you already have one.
  • Please login to your account and check your vehicle registration details.

Application Form

According to BanglarBike and Scribd, the motorcycle registration process in Bangladesh typically takes 7-15 days, depending on the workload at the BRTA (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority) office.

  • Register your motorcycle immediately after purchase to avoid penalties.

Motorcycle licenses have different fees. The cost of a learner’s license is Tk 345, and the cost of a smart card license is Tk 1,680 (professional) or Tk 2,542 (non-professional). Renewals are also subject to an additional fee.

Ten-year tax token renewals usually cost 2300 taka, depending on the vehicle’s engine capacity and other factors.
